2016 || A Year in Review
2016… am I right?
Dang what a year! I’m in awe & a bit overwhelmed as I reflect on what the entire year has held. In a whirlwind of excitement, challenges, growth, and hilarity, 2016 unanimously exceeded my expectations. We photographed the wedding stories of 31 incredible, down-to-earth couples, road-tripped around the coast of Iceland, and bought our first home – just to name a few of the milestones. Our lives were filled with renovation projects between wedding celebrations and peppered with international travels, family visits, friends, and those rare quiet moments of sitting on our couch with our kitty.
Our 2016 weddings blew my mind. Barefoot in the mountains, standing on windy cliffs, surrounded by forest, and in the open fields of farms, each wedding uniquely represented the adventurous & nature-inspired couples we were honored to befriend. And Hunter only ripped his pants twice while photographing weddings, so that’s also a win. (And he like ripped them. From one side entirely to the other. That’s why we bring backups.) From the bottom of our hearts Hunter & I want to thank all of the wonderful, creative, and inspiring couples who invited us to be a part of their wedding stories. You inspire us to continue the work we do, so thank you deeply.
And are you ready for this? In 2016 we took 148,842 photos. UM WHAT. Ya, that’s why it has been QUITE the undertaking to go through our entire year, narrow it down to a handful of photos, and try and write something coherent to go along with it. From quiet candid wedding moments to crashing waterfalls and everything in between, I’ve been inspired by the past and amped for the future. With 2017 on the horizon, we’re looking forward to all of its twists & turns. We have destination weddings, mountaintop elopements, international travel plans, and a loose hold on our expectations so we can joyfully embrace the true outcomes.
And here it goes, 2016: A Year In Review. A mixture of their stories & ours, intertwined as it truly were.
